Background: Use of checklist in evaluation of trauma patients has been a critical component of improving the care process and reducing medical errors and increasing patient's quality of life. We aim to assess the impact of the modified World Health Organization Trauma Care Checklist (WHO TCC) on the management of pain, complications, mortality and patient satisfaction in trauma patients. Methods: This was a randomized control trial (RTC). Trauma patients referred to the trauma center and met the eligibility criteria were randomly assigned into three study groups. Group 1 were patients who received trauma care without using the WHO checklist, and only by the standard of care. Group 2 were patients who received trauma care according to the WHO's checklist, and group 3 were patients received trauma care according to the WHO's modified checklist. We used independent t-test and chi-square tests to assess the association between the study variables with checklist groups. The significance level of tests was set for p-value less than 0. 05. Results: We observed patients’ level of pain, Injury Severity Score (ISS), Glasgow Coma Criterion (GCS) and patient satisfaction significantly improved across the checklist groups, but more so in the modified checklist group (P less than 0. 001). Similarly, findings reveal significant relationships between all clinical characteristics of the patients and checklist groups, except for a CT Scan of the spinal cord. We were unable to establish any significant associations between the checklist groups and the majority of the selected trauma care process measures, except for missed injury (p = 0. 001). Conclusions: Both the WHO TCC and the WHO modified checklist, in the initial assessment and during the treatment and care processes, enhance patients’ clinical outcomes. However, patients in the modified checklist compared to WHO TCC reported a higher level of satisfaction. Implications and future directions are discussed.

Background: The aim of this study was to standardize and assign validity and reliability of the Trauma Symptom Checklist for Children (TSCC-A).Methods: Normative data for the TSCC-A were based on 3042 students participating in a prevalence child abuse study in 19 different locations of Tehran and 140 participants who had been referred to the run-away children centers in Tehran, After the TSCC was validated on run-away and abused children, it was made available to researchers doing larger studies on a normative group.Results: Reliability analysis of the TSCC-A scales in the normative sample demonstrated high internal consistency. The evidence for its validations (convergent, discriminate and construct validity) showed that they were significantly acceptable.Conclusion: This paper presents data demonstrating the psychometric reliability and validity of the TSCC-A scales in the Iranian student population. We suggest to include the TSCC-A in a battery of relevant standardized tests.

Background: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is the most common destructive disease of the knee joint. The purpose of the present study was to design to psychometrically assess a checklist for knee care behaviors in housewives living in Yasuj, Iran. Methods: This study was conducted from 2019 to 2021. Medline, Google Scholar, and SID databases were searched using keywords such as KOA, menopause, instrument, self-care behavior, and women. The first draft of the checklist, consisting of 41 items, was prepared, and 10 experts assessed its wording, content validity index (CVI), and content validity ratio (CVR). Cronbach’s alpha and test re-test were utilized to assess the reliability of the tool. Results: Content validities confirmed the 38-item tool with 5 dimensions of standing, sitting, walking, sleeping, and exercise practicing, which were rated on a yes (score 1) or no (score 0) response. The total values for CVR and CVI for the tool were 0.97 and 0.88, respectively. Cornbrash’s alpha and test re-test coefficient of 5 dimensions were above 0.7, which was in an acceptable range. Conclusion: The study findings suggest that the 38-item tailor-made knee self-care checklist is a valid and reliable tool. Indeed, this instrument could be used by healthcare providers in health centers for evaluating knee self-care behaviors in KOA-suffered women. Furthermore, this checklist is worthy of use to further help determine the risky behaviors of women while doing daily activities and to design appropriate practical and educational interventions for improving their knee-related behaviors.
